Changing your password for DMS Web, Zimbra and Forums
When changing your password or resetting to your Default password, we recommend you follow this procedure BEFORE completing a password reset or change to avoid being locked out by your mobile devices.
Computers or mobile devices (cell phones, iPhone, iPad, tablets) that are set to automatically check for mail at regular intervals rather than using the “Manual check for mail” setting, WILL continue to try to access Zimbra mail with the incorrect password and eventually lock your account into a time-out for trying an incorrect password too many times.
Preparation for changing or resetting a password
Best practice is to disable Mail accounts on ALL mobile devices prior to resetting or changing your UNANet login password.
**NOTE: Alternately, you can shut down or turn off your device completely, however, should your device NOT shut completely down, you may still experience a Zimbra mail account lockout.
Disable a Mail account on Apple iOS device (iPhone or iPad)
- Launch Settings from your Home screen.
- Scroll down and tap on Mail.
- Tap on Accounts.
- Select the email account you want to disable.
- Toggle Mail off.
Disable a Mail account on Android devices:
- Go to settings
- Accounts and sync
- Deselect auto sync.
You may need to remove/delete the account depending on your Android operating system.
Locked accounts will need to be manually unlocked by contacting Systems Support from your personal email account.
